Part bar, part restaurant, the two-tier venue buzzes as a sociable hangout and is a fantastic advert for new-breed British cooking. The kitchen makes the most of carefully sourced ingredients for a raft of dishes with plenty of panache – witness spring pea and wild garlic soup with nettle pesto, beetroot and gin-cured salmon or flank of beef with skinny fries and mushrooms. Also expect a few trendy street-food riffs in the shape of hot and spicy chicken wings, burgers or brioche buns filled with BBQ pulled pork.
