Tom's Kitchen Birmingham
The first UK venture for Tom Aikens outside of the capital, this Tom’s Kitchen is inside the Mailbox. The restaurant itself is an informal, relaxed brasserie setting, open seven days a week, serving ethically sourced, seasonal British cooking. Expect the likes of crab cake with tomato and cucumber salsa, burgers and steaks and lemon sole with caper and parsley sauce, accompanied by a carefully curated wine list, as well as swanky concoctions from the bar. Those in search of a quick bite should drop by the deli, where there are affordable, home-made treats and snacks: soup, hotpots, sandwiches and salads are more the order of the day, though there’s still the offer of the odd glass of wine.
