The Talbot Inn says

The Talbot is a 16 century coaching inn, in the historic independent state of Cuckfield, where the building was once used as a courthouse for the local area. Now very much a much a Foodie destination for modern British cooking with our elegant courthouse restaurant, using the best of Sussex produce. Our separate bar replicating the modern approach to our fine wines and local cask ales making The Talbot a great destination time and time again.

The Talbot seems quite an attractive pub, courtyard outside, which was full of smokers. The windowcill was in need of repainting, being badly scratched and everywhere seemed slightly dirty. The staff seemed well trained and attentive. I was told by the bar staff that Gazpacho was off then overheard one of the two owners(?) saying that Gazpacho was available so I chose to have it along with another starter, Calamari. Both were obviously straight out of a packet and although both tasted ok, I was not entirely certain of the Gazpacho. I would not want to visit the place again and would have tried the newly opened bistro next door, La Flamiche I think.
