The Salisbury Hotel

1 Grand Parade, Green Lanes , London, N4 1JX

SquareMeal Review of The Salisbury Hotel

Harringay is the unlikely locale, but Grand Parade is a fitting address for this august survivor from the height-of-Empire boom that spawned London’s stately gin palaces. Designed to resemble ornate tiered cakes for big fat Victorian weddings, these places set out to wow the socks off the masses, with gin as the original tipple of choice – you can admire a full display, ranged on the Salisbury’s back bar and gantries. Otherwise, beer’s the thing; whether you favour real ales made in Blighty or fizzy foreign interlopers such as Chimay or Litovel, you’ll find them all here among the swagged grandeur. The Salisbury also sports a seriously eclectic jukebox, and puts on live gigs, dance classes, quiz nights, poker and community-spirited events in a large function room. Food is pitched at hearty appetites that are perhaps more Gordon Bennett than cordon bleu.
