SquareMeal Review of
This convivial Fitzrovia wine bar is on a mission to promote provenance, terroir and the ideals of the Slow Food movement – not surprising, since it’s run by two defectors from Covent Garden
crusader Terroirs. Fans of the latter will recognise the main themes on the short, snappy menu – snacks of lardo
grissini with mushroom cream, artisan cured meats and cheeses give way to various things ‘on toast’ and bigger plates of, say, smoked duck salad with grapefruit and orange or scallops with
guanciale (cured pork jowl) and fig sauce. The wine list unearths terroir-driven pickings from deep-rooted Old World sources and up-and-coming young contenders; otherwise, choose your remedy from
the fascinating collection of craft beers, aperitifs and digestifs.
