SquareMeal Review of
The Queen Adelaide
Revamped and restyled, this old Queen is now tricked out in the near-ubiquitous retro-modern style currently deemed hokey and twee by pub purists. Even so, it offers quaffers the prospect of beers
from Young’s, Camden and Meantime, while local yummy-mummies will rate the place for its Aperol spritzes, reasonably priced Pinot Grigio and bottles of French organic rosé shared while the little
ones explore the child-friendly surroundings of a spruce suntrap patio garden. Food-wise, expect a please-all Anglo-European mix with some exotic influences for added spice: fish finger sandwiches,
Scotch eggs, veggie risotto and tarts, ‘posh’ chicken Kiev with celeriac and truffle mash, mussels in Thai broth, steaks, burgers and savoury ‘picnics’ for sharing, plus kids’ stuff for around a
fiver. There’s brunch too, as well as a Sunday roast – perhaps grouse in season.
