About

Local boy James Allcock has returned to his roots for his first solo restaurant, just a few miles down the road from where he started his career. Having joined the team at Gordon Ramsay’s Knightsbridge restaurant Pétrus when he was just 18, he went on to enjoy stints at Michelin-starred restaurants and hot-ticket openings. Now back in Yorkshire, he’s woven everything he’s learnt about hospitality into this debut venture, which serves all-day small plates in a tiny space that’s split between bookable tables and a no-reservations bar. The vibe is buzzy but unfussy, the decor is bang on-trend, and the menu of deftly executed dishes balances the likes of local charcuterie, to be nibbled alongside a glass of sherry, with more intricate dishes such as smoked beef tartare topped with a precision-cooked egg yolk. Whether you pop in for a posh snack, or a sit-down meal, chances are you’ll leave wanting to return.
