SquareMeal Review of
The Lost & Found Birmingham
Taking its inspiration from Victorian explorer and academic Professor Hettie G. Watson, this playful bar/restaurant comes across as a gussied-up bohemian hideaway complete with a floor-to-ceiling
botanical library, exhibits in bell jars, maps, birdcages and a canopy of luxuriant plants – plus a vertical garden with animated butterflies projected onto its greenery. The drinks list features
whimsical ‘lost’ and ‘found’ cocktails from past and present (think gingerbread milk punch or fig and vanilla sour), assorted craft beers from brewers such as Sambrook’s and a decent array of
global wines. As for food, the eclectic all-day menu moves from pancakes, eggs Benedict and French toast to ‘gourmet’ sandwiches, seared scallops with chorizo, smoked duck noodle salad and
lemongrass crème brûlée. Those with bigger appetites might also fancy a high-protein plateful of steak or lobster from the grill.
