The Don's informal sibling is tucked into a medieval cellar beneath the convivial bar. The menu is short and snappy, the food "inventive and modern" – from octopus salad with Padrón peppers, chorizo and chickpeas or an equally intriguing venison and black pudding Scotch egg with celeriac rémoulade to grilled spatchcock chicken with lemon and garlic or perhaps Galician fish pie with shrimps and tomato. There's port on the wine list of course, but also a cosmopolitan, affordable selection by the glass or carafe; the full tome is an interesting read, and leaves bonus-busting to others.

In 2000, Robert and Robyn Wilson, owners of London’s Bleeding Heart Restaurant Group converted the building at No 20 St Swithins Lane into The Don Restaurant which justly won the award BMW/Square Meal Award for Best Restaurant in the City.In 2013 the Wilsons took on a much larger task and restored the adjoining building at No 21 St Swithins and its medieval cellar into The Don Bistro and Bar.
The restaurants adjoin via the private dining room below allowing areas in both venues to be used. With capacities from 8 – 65, private rooms can be hired throughout the day for both sit downs and standing events. For larger parties, take exclusive hire of the venue at weekend, perfect for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations up to 150.
