SquareMeal Review of
Tapas Revolution Bath
With a CV that includes a stint at Ferran Adriàs legendary el Bulli, Omar Allibhoy is the brains behind this youthful chain of tapas bars, which serves top-notch titbits to the UK’s more discerning working-lunch and after-hours crowds. Tapas Revolution’s buzzing, colourful dining rooms are manned by clued-up staff in bright-red T-shirts, but it’s also fun to sit up at the counter and order as you go. You won’t have heard of every dish: among the paellas, patatas bravas and pulpo a la gallega are less-plundered plates such as huevos rotos (chips fried with chorizo and runny-yolked eggs) or cordero al chilindrón (Riojan lamb stew). Set menus are a godsend for tapas novices, while ‘menus rápidos’ offer fantastic value for money on the hop. Don’t miss happy hour, when offers on artisan Spanish brews, bowl-sized G&Ts and pitchers of sangria get glasses clinking.
