SquareMeal Review of Sub Cult Broadgate

Sub Cult Broadgate closed permanently in October 2018. The restaurant can now be found at Boxpark Shoreditch

Street food outfit Sub Cult, which has been serving US deli-style sandwiches to the hungry at Brockley Market since 2014, has now opened in the City. This 18-month shipping container pop up is a cosy space, seating between 15 people, with extra seats outside on the terrace. Open from 7am, Sub Cult is gunning for the breakfast and lunchtime crowds, with sandwiches-to-go the star. Diners can expect to see signature subs including the Skandi: smoked salmon, peppered cream cheese, beetroot kimchi, lemon and dill. Other subs to choose from include the Sub Contractor featuring smoked back bacon, white pudding and egg, and The Rodeo – roast beef, truffle mayo, shallot jam and pickled serrano chilli. There are also vegetarian and vegan options and prices are pocket-friendly. Rumour has it that this City pop up is a precursor to a permanent site for Sub Cult – watch this space.
