Store Street Exchange Manchester restaurant bar

SquareMeal Review of Store Street Exchange

Situated on the ground floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, this venue takes its name from the original Piccadilly Station opposite, which was known as Store Street when it opened in 1842. Touches of concrete and exposed brick nod to the city’s industrial heritage, while leather seating and shimmering marble give this day-to-night dining and drinking space some added glitz. Menu highlights come from the rotisserie and char-grill – especially Goosnargh corn-fed chicken and meats from Aubrey Allen butchers. Our generously sized Barnsley chop and rose veal cutlet were treated with respect, simply grilled and served with crowd-pleasing sides including buttery slow-cooked rotisserie potatoes with bone marrow, creamy mash with roast garlic gravy, and peas with Ayrshire bacon, braised baby gem and button onions. Desserts are on the comforting side – steamed ginger parkin pudding with vanilla custard, perhaps. Meanwhile, the Store Street Craft Bar across the lobby offers sandwiches, snacks and hearty mains, plus signature cocktails inspired by colourful tales from the city’s past. A welcome addition to Manchester’s Piccadilly.
