SquareMeal Review of
Stephen St Kitchen
The British Film Institute’s West End offshoot plays host to a clean-lined brasserie and bar where mighty concrete pillars, pristine glass and glam banquettes bring a touch of urban chic to proceedings. Run by catering specialists Benugo, it offers a bright, eclectic all-day menu full of jazzy flavours and contrasts: spiced roast pumpkin soup with Welsh rarebit dumplings; sea bream with butterbeans, chorizo and Padrón peppers; freekeh risotto with Jerusalem artichokes, curly kale and goats’ cheese. The wood-fired oven is used for everything from pizzas to slow-cooked pork belly, then it’s back to Blighty for strawberries and cream. Whether you’re dropping in for breakfast or heading to one of the private screening rooms, this is a useful spot – with the bonus of terraces at front and back for cocktails and catching some rays.
