Run along the same lines as its sibling restaurant in the Dorsett Hotel, Shepherd’s Bush, this branch of Shikumen is an equally stylish and spacious prospect for those who fancy some classy Chinese food in Ealing. Lunchtime dim sum is the headline act here, with a host of subtly textured and delicately flavoured morsels on offer. The list is extensive, moving from classics such as pork and prawn sui mai, char-sui buns and ‘dough stick’ cheung fun to king crab dumplings in consommé, roast duck and pumpkin puffs, chicken taro croquettes and various esoteric congees. Alternatively, dip into the full menu for an exemplary version of Peking duck or work your way through the likes of baked black cod in Champagne sauce, stir-fried pork belly with bitter melon or Sanpei claypot chicken. Desserts such as mango pudding are also worth a shout.
