SquareMeal Review of
Shepperton Wine Bar & Grill
Nestled among some quaint cottages overlooking Shepperton’s leafy square, this cosmopolitan venue is dressed to impress with its smartly painted frontage and bright open-plan interior dominated by a large curving bar. Locally brewed ales do the business, while wine buffs can indulge in one of the ‘tasting paddles’ (three 50ml flights on a special theme). As for solid sustenance, the kitchen naturally gives to billing to the char-grill – think flatiron steaks, burgers, spatchcock chicken and racks of baby ribs. The menu also accommodates please-all international favourites ranging from Thai-style steamed mussels, ham hock croquettes and superfood salads to beer-battered haddock, teriyaki sea bass and hake fillet on crab and herb risotto, while puds might bring marbled hazelnut and chocolate cheesecake with popping candy and dulce de leche ice cream. “Really good food and a great team”, concludes one fan. Weekenders can also take one of the guided walks along the nearby Thames’ towpath, ending up here for a traditional Sunday roast.
