SquareMeal Review of
Seasons Restaurant & Bar Edinburgh
Buzzy, independent-friendly Broughton Street makes an ideal location for Seasons, where locally sourced Scottish produce is served with a helping of Scandinavian inspiration. Once seated in the intimate modern dining room, customers are presented with a list of seasonal ingredients including berries, foraged herbs, fish, fruit and meat. Highlight any dislikes, and then founder and executive chef Matthew Urry and his team will prepare a series of dishes showcasing the selection. We relished our meal, which ranged from tender Wye valley asparagus with charred onion and hazelnuts to perfectly pink saddle of lamb with peas, broad beans and feta in a rich lamb jus. To finish, an original, well-balanced dessert encompassed cherries, aromatic woodruff and white and dark chocolate ‘soil’. A playful drinks-pairing choice is also offered, which might include wine, beer or even a cocktail. Set lunch is great value, though the longer tasting menus really draw attention to the innovative ethos behind the restaurant. Put your trust in the chef and chances are you’ll be rewarded with a thrilling seasonal treat.
