SquareMeal Review of Scratch Bar

Imaginatively decorated by local artists, using theatre production props and cast-offs, Scratch is quirkily juxtaposed within the grand Grade II-listed, marbled Italianate surrounds of Battersea’s old town hall – note the rug-covered booths on the imposing staircase. During the day, it offers coffees, teas, cakes, panini and light lunches ranging from quiches, frittatas and salads to a daily hot dish such as beef bourguignon. In the evening, the menu has dips, cheese and charcuterie platters, plus burgers with chunky chips, ribs and chicken. Drinks include local craft ales (some from nearby Brixton Brewery), wines by the glass, fizz, cocktails including Kir Royale and possibly a Caribbean punch. Regular DJ sets, foot-stomping folk, roots and rock feature on the regular line-up of free live entertainment.
