SquareMeal Review of Ruby's

‘Nothing To See Here’ says a sign, spelled out in marquee letters on a recycled cinema canopy; it’s a hint of what lies below in Ruby’s – the cutest dive bar on Dalston’s main drag. Descend precipitous lino-covered stairs to discover a tiny deconstructed lounge filled with recycled junk, where two sunny souls (the owners) dispense mean cocktails from a tiny bar: check out blackberry mojito, bone-dry Sipsmith martini, passion fruit Bison vodka julep and Hemingway daiquiri served in an assortment of unusual vessels. Twelve is a crowd inside this converted stockroom, which is no bigger than the inside of a delivery van The retro pop soundtrack rocks until midnight, and drinks run from wines and fizz to Breton cider, local craft beers and some US brews. A new diamond in the Dalston rough.
