SquareMeal Review of Rosylee

Sandwiched between its two dark and intoxicating siblings (tiki bar Hula and speakeasy-inspired The Fitzgerald), Rosylee is all bright white walls, hanging greenery and bistro chairs. Stevenson Square is filling up fast with bars and restaurants, and Rosylee has fought its corner by covering as many bases as possible. You could eat and drink here all day, starting with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with a breakfast Martini and finishing with spatchcocked chicken marinated in dandelion and burdock and fired on the Inka grill. In between, there’s lunch (hotpot, Fleetwood fish & chips) and an afternoon tea that’s bigger on the scones and mini sandwiches than it is on obscure loose-leaf infusions. A menu punctuated by local ingredients reflects the sometime involvement of heroic Manchester chef Robert Owen Brown. With the group expanding rapidly, including on Rosylee’s doorstep in the square, there are likely to be changes to come.
