SquareMeal Review of
Rocca di Papa
With one branch on Old Brompton Road & another in Dulwich, Rocca di Pappa is keeping its distance from London’s larger, more generic pizzeria offerings. Inside, the high ceilings,
biscuit-coloured walls, framed crests identifying different Italian regions, & bin-end bottles on each table create an upbeat feel, while a photo montage on the far wall pieces together an
image of the eponymous hilltop town in Lazio. The menu doesn’t set out to startle (think caprese salad & spaghetti carbonara), but it’s worth homing in on dishes that put a spin on tradition,
such as pizza piccante with Calabrian ’nduja salame, cacciagione (roasted game with vegetables & lemon oil), or risotto with black-truffle pesto. On sunny days, when the front doors are folded
back, it’s pleasant to eat out on the porch.
