SquareMeal Review of Restaurant at Chinawhite

If you’ve hung up your dancing shoes but still want to party, the Restaurant at Chinawhite is just the joint. The glowing, opulent decor makes a fitting backdrop for a menu that gives occidental cuts an oriental edge; savour slices of roast Gressingham duck with sweet pineapple pickle ahead of the signature teriyaki burger (served in a sesame brioche bun with pickled daikon & wasabi mayo), before rounding off with a plate of banana mousse, malted toffee & salted caramel crème fraîche. Service can be slow & ‘inattentive’, but there’s usually a good-time vibe, fuelled by exotic cocktails & premium spirits. If you change your mind about the dancing, this is a handy warm-up, but be warned: dining here does not guarantee entry to the notoriously hard-to-access nightclub.

My sister and I went for dinner before our friends birthday party arrived for their table in the club. The dinner was very good and well presented. The dinner ware was smart, the tables a little small but adequate, needs a change of lighting as it was a little dull. The Bar was very lively which is in the same place as the restaurant. The menu was one page which is fine for a relaxed dinner. The wine list was good , quite varied in price and origin. The cocktails were very well executed. I had the sea bass and my sister had the hot pot, both were excellent and good portion sizes. The Desserts we shared a chocolate brownie and ice cream and it was good.

The evening was good, service could have been a little better, the staff were friendly enough but needed perhaps a little more wine knowledge. Food was more than satisfactory.

It was a lovely place to dine and a nice small intimate space and nice and easy access to the club after dinner. I will return.

Very nice traditional asian dishes with modern British twists. I had the Thai Green curry and the Chocolate chilli moose which I'm told are some of their best dishes. Although the service was a little slow as it was so busy the atmosphere was fun. I have to say that the waiter was not as attentive as I would have liked him to be and there were not enough people working in the restaurant that night so I was a little disappointed about that.

It is quite a small restaurant but was fairly busy so had to wait a little while for mains. (but was well worth the wait) The food was outstanding. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Only downfall the toilets were located in the club downstairs so was a bit of a trek in heels. The Chinawhite signature cocktail is a must try.
