Serial restaurateur Russell Norman (Polpo, Spuntino, etc) is behind the incarnation, which has a rough-around-the-edges retro look that suits a boozer where a who’s who of 1970s music acts once performed – from Pink Floyd to the Sex Pistols. London craft ales, American imports and vins de table fuel today’s arty rakes and spaced-out stylists, while cocktails include Cynar gin fizz, various Juleps and Martinis, damson sours and a Manhattan inspired by legendary American bartender Jerry Thomas. To scoff, sausage rolls, pork pies and Welsh rarebit have replaced that ubiquitous 1970s bar snack: a processed cheese sarnie wrapped in cling film.
