SquareMeal Review of Piacha

When a new café opens, we at Square Meal tend not to get over-excited about it, but this place seems to have what it takes for locals to sit up and take notice. The theme here is tea, of which they have 25 varieties ranging from the classic English breakfast to rooibos rhubarb fudge, via jasmine green tea and a heart-warming ginger chilli. Shakes and smoothies stay on-message – the Earl Grey peach smoothie is a firm favourite – as does the food menu, where breakfasters kickstart the day with rooibos and berry bircher muesli, and lunchers tuck into lapsang ham sandwiches. If you want a coffee, the lovely staff make a decent stab at it, but you get the feeling their hearts aren’t in it.

My favourite piacha's sandwich is the brie, walnut and cranberries layered goodness. Just the right amount of savoury and sweet. I usually pair it with a genmaicha or Piacha's private blend of chai depending on the mood. ...It is also hard to resist the tea-infused pastries... the chocolate decadence is my fav' by far! Often the Piacha staff tempts me to try a few new teas. (More goodness!) I love to hear them detail each of their own favourites and get me to taste something different. it's quite interesting to see that each of the staff has tea that a few favourite blends that match their mood and activities. I noticed that everyone is always feeling welcome at the tea bar, whether to work for a little while, read and reflect or simply meet up with friends. It's good to see regular and new faces! If you get the chance to meet Pia, ask her about tea, it is fascinating to hear her talk about the different teas, the creation of Piacha and the tea- infused food Best of best, the tea is prepared super fast, I can be in an out with a cup of my favourite tea in the morning or when shopping. I Like!

We recently discovered this tranquil haven in the middle of busy Upper Street. Excellent selection of teas! Not just your regular blacks and greens, but also interesting blends, with flavours such as licorice, ginseng or chili. Definitely worth several visits to experience all those amazing flavours. We will be back! :-) M&A, Geneva

Piacha sells some of the best tea blends in London - from favourites with twist (Tea with Black Cherry and Earl Grey & Vanilla) to really unusual blends (Rooibos Rhubarb Fudge). All teas are specially blended for Piacha and really high quality. For the tea blends alone, Piacha is well worth a trip, but when you add in Piacha's interesting tea-themed smoothies, mueslis and sandwiches, and the friendly service, this little cafe becomes a must to visit.
