SquareMeal Review of
This sleek, confident steakhouse, the only overseas outpost of an American legend, works to a simple formula of top-quality beef and shellfish backed by exceptional service. Scorching prices don’t
deter Belgravia’s jet set and Palm is a magnet for many regulars on first-name terms with the staff who patrol the capacious, clubby dining room. Snug booths, wood panelling, a long bar and rows of
treasured celebrity caricatures set the tone for meals dominated by slabs of USDA prime beef – ‘perfectly cooked’ New York strip, rib-eye, massive T-bones and dainty filet mignon. There are soups,
crab cakes, jumbo shrimps and classic Caesar salad, too, plus doughnuts for dessert. Fans insist the steak alone is ‘worth the trip’, but don’t ignore the Nova Scotia lobster, with all the fiddly
hard work done by ‘engaging, happy and helpful’ waiters.
