SquareMeal Review of Palm Beach Bar & Kitchen

Martinis & retro casinos are a potent combination for Mayfair’s Mad Men types & other risk takers. Factor in a 3am drinks licence & Palm Beach’s bar/DJ lounge looks like a useful spot for nighthawks on the prowl. Smoky old fashioned & royal bellini (rosé Champagne & Tanqueray 10) are smart calls for high rollers; a punt on Shropshire blue martini (Chase vodka, blue cheese & fresh dates) pays off, while a selection of after-dinner fancies such as Black Forest gâteau has Willie Wonka appeal. Otherwise play it safe with a bottle of Chilean Merlot (£20) or house Champagne at £12 a glass. Lunch-to-late bites include global grazing platters, tapas, dim sum, salads, deluxe sandwiches & pretty much anything a gambler might need to sustain them while they go about gaining fortunes or losing shirts in glitzy surroundings.

Tried this place twice in one night, first time, we sat at a table, no staff to show us, it was the only one avaliable and covered in dirty plates, staff seemed oblivious, waited 10 mins walked out. went for a gamble in the casino, came back an hour later, found a table…great! waitress came over and gave us our menus and that was the last we saw of her, waited 15 mins walked out, i complained to manager, who to behonest was very apologetic and told us she would give us a free meal if we stayed, she found us a table in front of the kitchen entrance, we kindly declined! the problem here is that the restuarant staff also service the casino area, so the restaurant suffers because of that.. my advice go to a proper restaurant.
