Owned by Thai beer giants Singha, this theatreland newcomer serves up pan-Asian street food in a Grade II-listed location that was King John’s kitchen garden back in medieval times. The sight of
vintage knick-knacks, hand-blown light installations and historically tiled bathrooms may give you culture shock, while the menu offers a mix of creative small plates, sharing dishes and more
besides. Developed by Yasuji Morizumi (the first Michelin-starred ramen chef), it features the likes of Pacata pasta (Thai-style squid-ink tagliatelle with tofu, prawns, egg etc), stir-fried beef
yakiniku (served with naan bread) and seared sea bass with a choice of curries – including a Japanese katsu version. Spread over two floors, Pacata is also big on oriental cocktails – some infused
with the owners’ ‘wonder beer’. Also look out for quick-fire Asian breakfasts and takeaways.
