Since opening in 2015, capacious Oisoi has earned an enviable reputation in the Steel City. Focusing on forward-thinking pan-Asian cuisine, it offers a range of Korean dishes alongside elegant adaptations of Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Malaysian classics – all prepared with panache and expert skill. The restaurant layout is spacious and open, with hand-crafted furniture adding to the upbeat vibe and keen staff who know how to deliver personalised descriptions of the dishes. As for the food, we reckon the Korean grill is a must-try – notably the thin slices of Argentinian sirloin steak served alongside Oisoi’s very own kimchi (flown in every week from South Korea). Otherwise, the menu trawls its way through steamed dumplings and superfood starters (black fungus and asparagus with sliced lotus root and goji berries, say), Thai curries, Szechuan chicken, numerous stir-fries and noodles in various permutations. Oisoi’s appealing package also includes a vast ground-floor cocktail bar and a café/patisserie known for its oriental afternoon teas. You won’t find anything like this elsewhere in Sheffield.
