SquareMeal Review of
Nipa at the Lancaster London (afternoon tea)
London’s first ‘Thai afternoon tea’ is as far away from an iced ‘cha yen’ swigged at a market in Phuket as you can get. The all-female kitchen team at Lancaster London’s Nipa restaurant has created a modern, Asian-inspired menu infused with the flavours and fragrances of Siam. Lively picks from the
sandwich selection such as rare spiced beef and cucumber, Thai shrimp or green papaya, avocado and chilli are a refreshing way to start – and perfect with a glass of Champagne (add £9 to the basic
price of £21 if you’re feeling flush). To follow, classic scones and clotted cream are given an exotic makeover with a hint of mango – plus homemade preserves such as orange and jasmine marmalade
on the side. Pastries include a banana and coconut rice doughnut and an elegant milk chocolate and jasmine délice.
