SquareMeal Review of
Mole Taco Bar
With skulls propped at the same bar as the tequila, Molé embraces Mexico’s darker side, but its line-up of vivid dishes isn’t meant to be anything but fun. Influences from further south infiltrate a menu that features Peruvian anticuchos skewers (loaded perhaps with chicken thigh and tiger prawns) and burritos bulging with guacamole, rice and beans as well as your choice of meat or veg. That said, most people are here for the tacos, carried either in the traditional corn tortilla or an alternative lettuce billfold – perhaps atole (Mexican corn) fried chicken with Serrano ham mayo, Baja fish with jalapeño slaw or soft-shell crab tempura with pico de gallo. To drink, cocktails have all the elements you might expect – there’s a lot of Jose Cuervo and tropical fruit – but should you prefer your tequila neat, they’ve got a shot glass for that and dozens of varieties to choose from.
