Mingo Argentine Steakhouse

SquareMeal Review of Mingo Argentine Steakhouse

Prime Argentinian steak specialist Mingo majors in moody interiors, South American artwork and Latin music. Warm up with homemade empanadas and a clutch of vegetarian dishes, or head straight for the flat rib-eye, paired with chimichurri or peppercorn sauce. Pampas-reared beef can be ordered per large plate: those succulent slabs of rib-eye (available in three sizes), churrasco (rump), sirloin or lomo (fillet). Can’t decide? No problem: there’s a vast ‘sampler’ option, featuring all four cuts. As you would hope, the wine list offers roughly a dozen Malbecs, alongside signature cocktails; don’t miss the Dulce de Leche digestif, a great way to round off a protein-packed feast. Canny bookers will be pleased to hear Mingo offer numerous promotions too.

We really enjoyed our meal although it wasn't the best steak I've ever eaten it was pretty good for the price and for the meeting we were having not only was the restaurant perfectly located but the service was speedy and the atmosphere relaxed. All round a good option for a relaxed lunch with colleagues.

It's key to understand that although Buenos Aires is labelled as a steakhouse (and a very successful and delicious one), the other dishes on the menu are also a “must try”. The empanadas (a traditional Argentine pastry), the aubergine milanesa, the provoleta (grilled provolone cheese) and last but not least, the desserts, are second to none! I also love the warm and cosy atmosphere of the City restaurant, with all the wood, cow skin and candles! And to top it all, the wine based cocktails are just the perfect combination of sweet and sour! For business meetings, quick lunches, after-work celebrations, I think this is the perfect place in the City! Original design, with great personality and amazing food!
