Now established as one of Manchester’s big hitters, TV chef Aiden Byrne’s flagship combines a thrilling industrial-lite restaurant with an über-glamorous bar/lounge – located 10 floors apart in a reconfigured office block. There are great city views from the dining room, where blingy urban decor sits well with dishes that come dressed to impress. There’s also plenty of drama as the kitchen sends out a raft of highly worked and exceedingly on-trend ideas (some of which have already found TV fame on The Great British Menu). But Byrne isn’t one to sit on his laurels, and his repertoire continues to evolve: current dazzlers range from roast langoustine with black onion seeds, smoked cauliflower and venison carpaccio to cured Goosnargh duck breast with watercress, turnip and truffle. There’s also a show-stopping dish of braised beef cheek with Txogitxu tartare and choucroute, while desserts might feature a jokey ‘breakfast’ combo of beurre noisette parfait with marmalade and sweet potato toast. Classy afternoon teas, wine tastings and celeb chef appearances also help to make this a top Mancunian destination.
