We've noticed that this reasonably priced, retro cocktail bar has had a bit of a makeover of late, making the basement den every bit as stylish as the ground floor. Artwork and foliage cover the walls, and regular entertainment now vies for attention with puntastic cheese toasties including Cheezuz of Nazareth (our favourite). This is a great place to end up after hours, with DJs centre stage at weekends and plenty of seriously good cocktails on offer. The list is heavy on rum and whisky, with concoctions such as Blossoming Kiss – a mix of Monkey Shoulder, lemon and Prosecco that reminded us of a cold, sparkling version of a hot toddy (in a good way). Drinks are served with a hefty dose of humour, hence the homemade tinctures and potions littering the menu – ever tried Liquid Polygamy?
