SquareMeal Review of
Chelsea Farmers’ Market is packed with semi-alfresco eateries and La Pizzeria is one of the largest on show, with a high vaulted roof, open sides and a terrace hedged with lavender. The kitchen
specialises in huge wood-fired pizzas with toppings ranging from a basic margherita with stringy mozzarella and basil leaves to a heavily loaded giardiniera with mushrooms, artichokes, olives and
aubergines. So far, so promising, but feedback suggests something is seriously wrong here: ‘my grandchildren can make better pizzas’, commented one reader; ‘gives the London restaurant scene a bad
name’, lamented another. Service also receives plenty of flak, from the ‘miserable’ staff to the ‘rude, angry manager’. Prices are eye-watering for the surroundings, even if the drinks list offers
a democratic selection of Italian beers and wines. ‘Avoid like the plague’, advises one disgruntled reviewer.
