SquareMeal Review of KPH

Owned by The Mean Fiddler’s Vince Power, the cosy postmodernist parlour and ‘theatre bar’ about this rebooted North Kensington corner pub is home to a roster of country, blues, folk, jazz and DJ sets – although it’s unlikely you’ll hear Tom Jones, who played here before his star went supernova. KPH’s classic blue-collar American chow includes pulled pork buns, hot dogs, meatballs and Brooklyn-style pizzette, plus the likes of quinoa, tabbouleh and herb leaf salad or char-grilled salmon with beluga lentils for W10’s trendies (although most of the clientele is still resolutely old-skool Notting Hill). In the downstairs bar, it’s all beat-up mismatched furniture and images of stars of yore, with a 1960s Skol/Double Diamond canopy, bottled beers and draughts from a could-do-better range of lagers. Cocktails are also advertised – although this was early-doors news to the woman who served us.
