KOPAPA PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN MAY 2016
Flavour crusaders could do worse than head to Kopapa, the sassy canteen-style sidekick of The Providores from Kiwi fusion chef Peter Gordon. Its easy vibe is "appropriate for all occasions", with weekend brunch a particular draw: think chorizo hash with a wasabi- and oloroso-infused Bloody Mary. The full menu is an eclectic jaunt through global cuisines and curious ingredients, and we recommend sharing a hotchpotch from the regularly changing line-up of large and small plates. Our hit list has to include the following: crispy squid in zhoug dressing (a fiery green chilli sauce from the Yemen) with an intricate salad of pickled lemon, fennel and peppers; spring rolls stuffed with spicy massaman lamb, and crispy pork belly lathered with a lip-smacking Manuka honey and sumac glaze. Smiling staff and a really good selection of wines are further plus points.
Kopapa was one of those places that kept popping up on my Instagram feed, and having never had food from New Zealand, I took the opportunity to stop by. To keep it short, it’s an innovative, fusion style restaurant located just by Seven Dials, Covent Garden.Menu changes continuously, but some things will stay and remain as a favourites, notably their Turkish eggs dish!
