SquareMeal Review of
With more personality than competing mid-market Italians & the chains, Kitchen Italia has plenty of plus points. The buzzy basement dining room is decked out with long communal tables, &
bright paper menus offer a please-all selection of reasonably priced pastas, pizzas, salads & small sharing plates such as tomato bruschetta. Milanese specials & a concise list of Italian
beers & wines, plus cocktails such as strawberry bellini, are also available. The downside is freewheeling, Wagamama-style service, which on our last visit was simply chaotic (long waits,
mislaid orders, and so on); thankfully, a bowl of perfectly al-dente tagliolini with fat tiger prawns, chilli & garlic offered plenty of flavour when it eventually arrived, while gnocchi with
peas, mint & Gorgonzola put in an equally creditable performance.
