SquareMeal Review of
Killer Tomato Shepherd's Bush
Killer Tomato offers surprisingly delicate and delicious Tex-Mex cuisine, in a New York subway-inspired setting. With its no-cash policy, phone chargers for every diner and laid-back, chatty staff, it exudes modern cool. Start with the beef brisket croquettes, which ooze juicy meat from crisp shells. The tacos here are all soft-shelled, with the beer-battered cod we sampled proving flaky and fresh, while the red chorizo and green salsa option resulted in a fiery mouth explosion. Be sure to save room for the Late Night quesadillas, packed with ground beef and dripping with melted cheese. To wash all the spice down, fresh Tommy’s Margaritas made with smoky mescal or refreshingly punchy Cheladas (Mexican beer and lime) are on hand. There are no desserts, but the iced rum and salted caramel shot offers a perfectly cooling, zingy finish. KT is a safe bet for an authentic Mexican meal when you’re in this chain-packed area.
