SquareMeal Review of
Hunter 486 (bar) at The Arch London
The art-stuffed Arch London hotel seems to have as many different bar rooms and restaurants as it does guests, helping Hunter 486 to win a portfolio of fans without compromising its essential –
and slightly self-conscious – hipness. The bijou Salon de Champagne displays tasting notes on the ceiling (‘brioche aromas’ etc), the Martini Library has coffee-table books and a service call
button, and the bar proper is pure Mad Men. Champagnes and premium spirits supplement a stylish if not hugely extensive list that might include the likes of sloe gin fizz, pisco sour and mai
tai. The restaurant – a neutral take on a diner with pots and pans hanging from the ceiling – serves likeable international dishes made from good-quality raw materials (rack of salt-marsh lamb
with boulangère potatoes and tarragon salsa, for example).
