SquareMeal Review of
Green Room at The Curtain
A year after opening, The Curtain (a swingin’ boutique sleepover) has decided it needs a classic modern hotel bar – instead of a pastiche tacky Tequila and taco joint. So it’s curtains for Tienda Roosteria and hola to the Green Room. Here, an emerald banquette, artsy hangings and a 1950s-style peacock-themed mural draw the eye away from windows looking on to the dreary streetscape outside. Exotic, suitably ‘Shoreditch’ staff ply punters with a tiki-serve welcome drink while cocktails are crafted to order. Our Johnnie Walker Black and sourdough Bread & Butter Sazerac is, indeed, ‘complex, strong and stirred’. Other characters worth locking lips with include Holiest Harlot (a bittersweet pink Champagne and berry fizz) and Rough Trade (Bacardi 8, cumin, club soda, pineapple and lime). Accompanying bar snacks are appropriately modish. Upstairs, The Lido (open to members and residents) is a Mediterranean-inspired rooftop terrace to reckon with – heated pool included.
