SquareMeal Review of
Fourth & Church
Wine shop, deli, tapas bar and events space – Fourth & Church has many strings to its bow, which helps explain why it has become a firm favourite in the neighbourhood. The curing and fermented arts are fully appreciated in a superb range of charcuterie, Neal’s Yard cheeses and a huge selection of wines from much-loved local merchant Butler’s. These bottles can be bought to take away, or for £10 corkage enjoyed as part of the excellent small-plates menu. There are typically just a couple of hot dishes: beer-braised beef with sweet potatoes, perhaps, or pork belly croquettes. Otherwise, you can choose from a large selection of cold tapas, from a slice of tortilla with olive tapenade, to pheasant terrine or mackerel and horseradish rillettes. Prices are extremely fair (dishes rarely break the £7 barrier), the atmosphere is informal and welcoming, and staff are genuine and fun. A true local hero.
