SquareMeal Review of
Flat Iron Shoreditch
The steak specialist that started as a pop up in Shoreditch has since opened Flatiron Beak Street, Denmark Street and Henrietta Street and now it's returned to where it all started. Flat Iron is known for its simple, lightly seasoned, quality steaks at a ludicrously cheap £10 a head and if that’s what you’re after, it’s here in spades. There’s also a new aspect to this restaurant in the shape of a great fire pit, where wood and charcoal burns beneath a rotating spit, used for slow-roasting whole foreribs and loins. It has a hand-cranked, 200-year-old clockwork mechanism but thankfully, the fashion for using impoverished children to turn the handle has died out with the centuries. As ever with this growing brand, there's a no-reservations policy in place so be prepared to queue for that meat fix.
