SquareMeal Review of
Flat Iron Henrietta Street
Three times as big as its sisters Flat Iron Beak Street and Flat Iron Denmark Street, this monster of a steak house has room for 180, as well as a working butchery in the centre of the restaurant. The brand has (quite literally) made its name with the ‘flat iron’ steak (a ‘secondary’ cut taken from the featherblade). The eponymous steaks are tender, flavoursome and seasoned with a wallop, but priced with a tickle at just £10 each. The sole dessert of ice cream is free of charge, once the staff have established that you didn't steal the cute miniature cleavers served with every steak (it's becoming a problem, apparently). We would never condone stealing and, when given a choice between that or free ice cream, we know what we'd do. Expect British craft beers and cocktails to drink, as well as a long queue: there are no reservations, but they'll take numbers down so that you can wait elsewhere.
