SquareMeal Review of Feng Sushi Royal Festival Hall

A chain of sushi joints with a Danish & – get this – female chef at the helm doesn’t sound like somewhere foodie snobs would frequent, but they’d be missing out. Feng Sushi, a low-key group including a delivery-only unit at Billingsgate Market, is respectful of the seasons & sustainability without being dogmatic. Yes, you can have an order of ‘X-ray’ salad with pomegranates & avocado with your Loch Duart salmon sashimi, or pine nut & soba salad with your Japanese ‘fish & chips’. And if you fancy your chirashi sushi on brown rice, that’s not a problem. Everything’s available to go, with plenty of sushi & sashimi boxes to choose from – plus alcoholic support from Japanese beer & saké. Desserts are typically restrained – black sesame ice cream, perhaps, or chocolate mochi.
