TV star and culinary sage Martha Ortiz has brought her brand of authentic yet cliché-busting Mexican cuisine to the InterContinental hotel on Park Lane. The chef behind Mexico’s celebrated Dulce Patria, Ortiz dug deep into her country’s history for her London debut. Pride of place on the menu goes to a tasting menu extravaganza featuring seven mole sauces. On the à la carte, meanwhile, look out for the likes of Mexican-style ceviche topped with hibiscus flowers, and beef tartare drizzled with fiery papalo-infused oil. Gourmet updates of ancient dishes result in choices such as pozole (hominy-style stew) made with lobster, rather than the more typical pork. Mescal and Tequila connoisseurs should check out the glam standalone bar, which majors in rare styles and boasts its own small-plates menu. Interior-wise, the jade-green and jet-black room has been designed by David Collins Studio, providing the requisite glitz for this postcode.
