SquareMeal Review of
Coppa Club Tower Bridge
This all-day restaurant, bar and lounge is the first non-members site for a brand which began with Coppa Club Sonning in Berkshire. Situated next to the Tower of London and overlooking the Thames and HMS Belfast, this London debut offers a menu of straightforward European dishes including steaks, pizzas and pasta, as well as superfood salads. The food doesn't quite deliver, especially in comparison with the striking interior and gorgeous views. A serving of tagliatelle Bolognese was insipid, while some crispy fried squid was tough as old boots. On the other hand, seared king prawns with garlic, lemon and chilli were juicy and delicious (served on a hunk of bread to soak up the flavoursome fishy juices), while a Tomahawk pork chop was chunky and moist, well-paired with sage, slow-cooked greens and lemon. A flourless chocolate and almond cake with orangey crème fraiche was also delicious. Staff are friendly, accommodating and well-informed and the cocktails are top-notch: we recommend the Toasted Nut Sours (amaretto, Frangelico, lemon, egg white, bitters and Griottines cherry). Coppa Club has found a fantastic site with great potential, but the kitchen here needs to improve.
