Squaremeal Review of Caphe Pho ?

For heaven’s sake, don’t anyone tell Nigel Farage, but Londoners seem remarkably keen on the diversity of cultures and flavours that are found in the capital’s restaurants. Currently, it’s southeast Asian cooking we're craving and this new Vietnamese café in Smithfield, with its fresh herbs and zingy chilli hit, is just the ticket. Nibble on summer wraps and lettuce rolls dipped in nuoc cham, lemongrass, pork and tofu salad, or the dish of the house – noodle soup with beansprout chilli, ginger and spring onion, served with prawns, beef or chicken. It’s the Vietnamese equivalent of a ramen, with a head-clearing zap to it. And if you’re too busy or important to stop for lunch, get a takeaway and eat it at your desk.

I seem to have a constant craving for Asian food lately, and Vietnamese food has always been one of my favourites, not only because it&s healthy but also for their fresh ingredients and scrumptious array of dishes.
Located less than 10 minutes away from Farringdon station is Caphe Pho, a family-run Vietnamese restaurant which opened in June. Some of you may already know them well from their previous site in Bermondsey under the name of Caphe House.

In the shadows of Smithfield Market you’ll find a veritable Vietnamese feast waiting for you. I am of course talking about Caphe Pho. Flanked by large office buildings this place has a great footfall mostly made up of office workers and people like me out to find a foodie gem. I was brought here by my fellow foodie, Felicia, who is quickly becoming my partner-in-crime. The restaurant has a heavy wood influence with floors, tables and chairs all getting in on the action. The modern low-lighting lends itself to the highly-polished reflective surfaces and creates a warm, inviting setting for our lunch.
