SquareMeal Review of
Brasserie Blanc Tower of London
Located directly opposite the imposing Tower of London, this branch of Raymond Blanc’s user-friendly brasserie chain offers all sorts of possibilities for tourists and workers from the local
insurance offices. Banquette seating and swishly laid tables offer an inviting prospect in the print-lined dining room, while an eye-catching mural marks out the staircase leading down to Little B
– a separate dining area that can used for private parties. Start with a bowl of moules marinière or ‘Maman Blanc’s miscellany of salads’ before sampling steak-frites, seared hake with lemon and
parsley butter or roast Barbary duck breast with spiced plum compote and gratin dauphinoise. For afters, why not share a flamed baked Alaska or some Anglo-French cheeses. Two-course set menus (from
£10.95 lunch, £14 dinner), various kids’ deals and Gallic regional wines direct from the producer are further reasons to be impressed.
