Squaremeal Review of Brasserie Blanc Tower of London ?

Located directly opposite the imposing Tower of London, this branch of Raymond Blanc’s user-friendly brasserie chain offers all sorts of possibilities for tourists and workers from the local insurance offices. Banquette seating and swishly laid tables offer an inviting prospect in the print-lined dining room, while an eye-catching mural marks out the staircase leading down to Little B – a separate dining area that can used for private parties. Start with a bowl of moules marinière or ‘Maman Blanc’s miscellany of salads’ before sampling steak-frites, seared hake with lemon and parsley butter or roast Barbary duck breast with spiced plum compote and gratin dauphinoise. For afters, why not share a flamed baked Alaska or some Anglo-French cheeses. Two-course set menus (from £10.95 lunch, £14 dinner), various kids’ deals and Gallic regional wines direct from the producer are further reasons to be impressed.

Outstanding City Venue

This is an outstanding example of a City brasserie that gets the value for money side of this business so right. The food quality is excellent - outstanding soufflés and the staff are incredibly well trained without feeling like robots. I will certainly be returning soon - the food is to die for.

The service was very slow (I had to ask the waiter to come and take the orders after waiting for half an hour). The accompanying sauces (e.g. mustard) did not arrive until some time after the meal had arrived. Some of the food was very poor and not what was expected at such a high profile restuarant chain.
