Occupying premises that used to house The Diner on Shaftesbury Avenue, Beso is a new venture from chef Khalid Dahbi and joins a growing number of eateries looking to shift the perception of Covent Garden as a tourist trap. The kitchen specialises in Moorish cuisine, producing dishes that draw inspiration from Marrakech, Spain and Turkey. On the menu, you’ll discover sharing plates such as cumin-dusted beef-burgers served with crème fraîche and spiced onion rings, alongside the more classy likes of Hampshire quail accompanied by charred cauliflower, sumac and pomegranates. After you’ve watched the chefs at work in the open kitchen, head on down to the cosy basement cocktail bar and wine cellar.
