Pop-up turned permanent fixture, this wee hero is slaking South London thirsts with its regularly changing cast of craft ales. Top shouts are brews from the bar’s owners, Late Knights – a microbrewery set in a converted slaughterhouse in Penge, which is capable of producing around 100 casks each week. At £3.20 per pint (or in a flight of three tasters), look out for Worm Catcher IPA, Morning Glory Best Bitter, Hairy Dog Black IPA and Hop of the Morning – a rich, rewarding stout to shout about. Over four dozen bottled beers, six artisan ciders and malt whiskies, plus pies, sausage rolls and various homemade burgers (including a veggie stack) with chips are further reasons to check out this new champion – appropriately attired in rebellious, raw retro style.
