SquareMeal Review of Beduin

Ornate lanterns, colourful drapes & luxurious sofas are all part of the sultan-chic at this funky three-storey bar – although the Arabian theme thankfully doesn’t extend to alcoholic abstinence. You’ll have no trouble finding a drink here, & the mainstream cocktail list (including several pitchers) throws up a few surprises among the cosmopolitans, caipirinhas & old fashioneds – try a mieta with Zubrówka vodka, mint & cranberry juice. Meanwhile, the list of mightily expensive bubbly would make even an oil sheikh wary. Hungry food-nomads can graze their way through chicken satay skewers, BBQ ribs or wasabi tempura vegetables, while those wanting something bigger generally veer towards burgers with flatbread & shoestring fries. DJs & themed nights in the throbbing basement keep the party crowd busy till 5am at weekends.

Absolutely awful. Staff have an attitude (though one bouncer was nice) and the manager is dismissive and argumentative. Apparently “he” (the manager) is the owner and there is no owner or senior management/head office to complain to. If you are desperate for a night out, go here, but if you like half decent cocktails and value some level of service please avoid this place and look elsewhere.

THE rudest manager I have EVER come across. Having booked a table for 6.30-7 (with email confirmation to prove it) we turned up on Saturday at 7 to find the place wasn't even open and doesn't actually open until 7 anyway…why they told us that time for the booking I have no idea! When we turned up there were staff waiting outside and nothing happening inside, nothing set up at all. We went to Ortega (fantastic service) to get a drink whilst waiting for it to open/deciding what to do as there were 12 of us and not easy to get a table somewhere else at such short notice. Mr Manager finally turned up so I went to speak to him to very politely request whether he could offer us a discount/some free drinks for the delay and to cheer the dissenters up (some of the group were threatening mutiny at this point) as I still wanted to go there. To which the manager replied 'if you hadn't asked for one then I would have given you a discount'. Hmmmmm, well Mr Manager you lost the business of 12 people and we went and spent £250 in Ortegas instead (who were brilliant by the way) whilst you and your staff sat outside Beduin serving noone and losing money. I would like to think you might lose the attitude in future but I doubt it. Avoid like the plague, manners cost nothing Mr Manager!
